Checking  In

 

You can check in anytime after 15:00 by entering the code

On the key pad on the front door.

Your key will be in an envelope on the breakfast bar, straight ahead of you.

If you arrive earlier, you are welcome to leave your bags in the dining room for collection later, however, if your keys are on the breakfast bar already , you are welcome to use your room before 15:00.

Your key fits the outside doors and your room, nobody else’s room. You no longer need the front door code.

Have a great journey and please remember, other guests maybe trying to sleep at any time day or night so please be quiet at all times.

Parking

Like most other accommodation providers in the centre of Lincoln, parking is very limited.

There are 4 spaces available to guests of the Newport guest house directly behind the guest house. Access down Lilly’s rd, turn left onto Ernest terrace.

These are strictly available on a first come basis but can be reserved for blue badge holders.

These must be vacated before 12 noon on day of departure.

Alternative free parking is available on Newport, Williamson st and St Johns rd.

Please see the free parking options in the front porch and in your room.

There is no need to pay for parking and no requirement to walk more than 5 minutes to park your car.

If our Parking options are not suitable for your requirements, The Lincoln and White Hart hotels and Cathedral view guest house all have good parking on site.

Breakfast 

A continental breakfast is served between 07:00 and 09:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 to 09:30 Saturday,Sunday and bank holidays.

Checking Out

Check out is before 10:30 please, this enables us to service the rooms before 15:00 arrival times.

Please ensure you check out and hand over your key to reception before 10:30.

If our check out times do not suite your requirements, please consider alternative accommodation.

Lost Property

Due to the increased occurence of property being left in the rooms, we have had to apply a standard charge of £10 to return any property via post if you are unable to collect. This is to ensure our own expenses are covered. We ask that you please check your room before leaving, however if you believe you had left anything in your room after check out please call us on 01522 528590 or email info@newportguesthouse.com and we can arrange for the items to be returned to you.

Noise

Please be aware that we are a centrally located Guest House, within a 5 minute walk to the Bailgate area of Lincoln which holds Lincoln Castle and Cathedral. We are located on the main road, and therefore some traffic and general city noise can be expected at any time, in any room,night and day.

We advise all guests that we are a quiet guest house, meaning guests causing a disturbance to others will be asked to leave immediately without refund.

Hot weather

As we are all aware, due to our  willingness to ignore global warming by poisoning our planet with the consumption of fossil fuels, our summers are getting hotter. Most of our rooms have fans in them but they can still be hot. If you are particularly affected by these conditions, we are definitely not the place for you.

What is a Guest House?

Many people ask us, what is the difference between a hotel, B&B and a Guest House? We feel you should know what we can offer as a Guest House as opposed to other forms of accommodation before you decide to book a room. A Guest House is traditionally a converted building turned into accommodation, we work on a Bed and Breakfast basis, however we have no facilities to offer evening meals/drinks. The property has no live in staff (unlike a B&B) and no 24/7 reception (unlike a hotel), however we do provide contact numbers for several staff members who are never more than 5 minutes away should you need assistance. We offer luxury comfortable rooms with a relaxed traditional home from home feel to them, unlike large hotels we know our guests on a one on one basis and cater to individual needs. You are provided with a room key that will operate both the individual bedroom door and the front and back doors upon arrival and so you are able to come and go as you wish throughout the day and evening. 

Please note, if it is a Hotel or Hotel facilities that you require, we are happy to recommend The Lincoln Hotel or the White Hart Hotel, both of which are very close to the Cathedral.

Damages

We understand that accidents do occur, and when we are informed of these it is generally not a problem. Damages that have not been reported or are extensive will incur charges to replace items. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building and if found to be smoking in the room a £100 fine will be added to your bill. If the room is unable to be sold for that night due to smoke and/or damages an extra night room charge will be added to cover our lost revenue.
